With students back in school, fall right around the corner, and Halloween candy and décor stocking the shelves it is time to start thinking about what you will be handing out this year for Halloween. The restrictions for handing out treats at school have become stricter; allergies need to be taken into consideration, how healthy does it need to be, or even if it is required to be store bought. Many of those same considerations need to be accounted for even if you are only handing out treats to the neighborhood kids, you don’t want to be “that house” that no one goes back to because they handed out bad treats, or you could be participating in allergy friendly trick or treating that usually involves specifically colored pumpkins. A great way to avoid all of the confusion of what is or is not allowed is to not hand out candy at all, I know it sounds crazy, but bear with me.
Giving small toys is the perfect solution for a multitude of reasons. Most importantly, you don’t have to worry about eating them all before you hand them out like you would with candy. They also solve all of the problems of how healthy they are and being allergy free so you are not stuck in the candy aisle at the grocery store reading labels for 45 minutes trying to find the perfect treat. Plus, they won’t go bad so if you have some left over you can save them to hand out the next year and again, you are not “stuck” with eating all of the leftovers.
Printables add value to the small toys you are handing out; making your house the one everyone wants to go back to each year. They are also a great way to personalize the items that your kids are handing out in class.
