October 31, 2020

October 31st.  Quite possibly most kids’ third favorite day of the year right behind December 25th and their birthday.  A day filled with fun and excitement; friends, costumes, candy, caramel apples, and other yummy treats.  What isn’t there to love?  Well, I have a hunch this year may be a bit different.  Maybe you won’t be out there walking swiftly to the next door with its porch light all aglow.  Perhaps you won’t have that classroom Halloween party with all of the treats handed out haphazardly.  However, this does not mean Halloween will go by as just another day.  October 31, 2020 happens to land on a Saturday, and how on earth could that possibly go by unnoticed?

While I’m not sure how you and yours will be spending the day or evening, I can tell you what I will be doing.  I will do a bonfire for my family.  That means that Grandma, Grandpa, cousins, aunts and uncles are all welcome to come hang out.  We will have plenty of sweets and treats to enjoy, and will cook something delicious for dinner.  I will probably even rent a popcorn machine from Hayes Specialties to enjoy fresh popped popcorn all day (my son’s favorite).  Of course costumes are welcome.

Certainly the best part of Halloween, to me, is my family.  I love seeing my kids have fun, and I very much enjoy time with my parents and siblings.  So sure, it may not be the trick-or-treating through the neighborhood like usual, but there will still be laughter.  There will still be fun.  And there will obviously still be candy.

So, if you need a hand with some at-home ghoulish fun, come on in to Hayes Specialties and see what we’ve got.  With all of the novelties we have (in a variety of prices) you can please any trick-or-treater with or without food allergies.  Staying home and having friends over?  We’ve got game rentals to please your kids and kids at heart.  There are also fun concession rentals for a variety of treats (cotton candy, popcorn, snokone, slushies, and even soft-serve ice cream).  We also have supplies to do your own caramel apple buffet!

Whatever you end up doing for your own Halloween, I hope that it is fun, I hope that it is safe, and I hope it is filled with treats.
